Claire Guthrie Gastañaga to Speak

The June 19th open meeting of Rappahannock Indivisible—We the People will feature Claire Guthrie Gastañaga, Executive Director of the ACLU of Virginia since 2012. Gastañaga will speak on the importance of ensuring that every Virginian can vote. Her topics include the importance of voting, how voter suppression impacts communities across Virginia, and the remedies available to combat voter suppression now and in the future.

In Gastañaga’s words, “Voting is a cornerstone of our democracy, so much so that the right to vote is mention more times than any other in the U.S. Constitution. Yet there is no right-to-vote guarantee in the Virginia Constitution.”

Rappahannock Indivisible, a non-partisan civic organization, hosts regular forums in space made available by the Unitarian Universalist Fellowship of the Rappahannock (UUFR) but is not affiliated with UUFR.

The meeting will begin at 7:00 p.m. at the Unitarian Universalist Fellowship of the Rappahannock, 366 James Wharf Road in White Stone. All members of the community are welcome. Mari Bonomi Media Contact 804-436-9210
