Virginia's First District Congressional Seat Candidate Discussion

For their October 17th open meeting of Rappahannock Indivisible—We the People, the organization invited candidates for Virginia’s First District Congressional seat.

Challenger Vangie Williams accepted. Congressman Rob Wittman declined the invitation and is not sending a representative.

The format for the evening will be simple. Moderator Tom Edwards will pose a question on a particular topic to Williams, who will have five minutes to respond. Then audience members can ask follow-up questions. If there is time after the prepared questions, audience members will have the opportunity to ask their own questions of Williams.

Among the topics on which Williams will be answering questions are health care, federal Title IX policies, priorities around immigration, money in politics, and her views on necessary military strength.

Everyone in the community is welcome to attend. There are no restrictions of any sort.

The meeting will be held at the Unitarian Universalist Fellowship of the Rappahannock, at 366 James Wharf Road in White Stone, beginning at 7 p.m. As is true every month, the Fellowship allowing Rappahannock Indivisible to use its meeting room does not represent endorsement of candidates or positions taken by Rappahannock Indivisible.
